Israeli Bias in Coverage of Gaza Holocaust

bbc-cnn-tv-coverageThe BBC has had to defend itself after reports of Israeli bias and a lack of backbone. Veteran Middle East BBC reporter, Jeremy Bowen wrote a piece a week ago from Gaza in which he stated, “I saw no evidence during my week in Gaza of Israel’s accusation that Hamas uses Palestinians as human shields.” A popular story on Twitter said that Bowen had been removed after complaints from the Israeli regime that Bowen was “pro-Hamas”. “Pro-Hamas” is a popular term in Israel to refer to anyone who is against the occupation and ethnic cleansing. The BBC, however, says that Bowen is simply “on holiday”.

This wouldn’t be the first time that Israel has complained about balanced reporting. NBC couldn’t get their Arabic-speaking reporter out of Gaza fast enough after he witnessed the murder of 4 Arab boys who were playing on a beach. Ayman Mohyeldin was kicking a soccer ball around with the boys just minutes before they died. Ayman’s “crime” was that he sensibly placed the Gaza conflict within the context of the occupation. NBC didn’t say that Ayman was “on holiday”. NBC said that he was removed for “security concerns”. Then they replaced him with someone more Zionist-friendly.
